Planetary lava tubes: Expanding our knowledge about their genesis and significance from Earth to the Solar System
Contenuti: The genesis and significance of caves lava tubes on Earth and Planetary bodies will be presented. The geological contexts, formation mechanisms and the various genetic processes will be illustrated as well as the most striking cases of planetary caves suspected to be lava tubes. The recent discovery of an accessible cave conduit on the Moon near side below the Mare Tranquillitatis pit will also be presented with a focus on the innovative techniques that led to such discovery, with perspectives on future exploration.
