Description/activity:

Preparation of powders and thin sections of rocks and minerals for mineralogical, petrographic and geochemical analyses.

Equipment:

• Two diamond saws with water cooling system for rock cutting
• BUEHLER PETROTHIN and MICROMET M thin section machines
• BUEHLER METASERV 2000 and REMET LS 3V grinders/polishers
• RETSCH RS 100 vibratory disk mill
• FRITSCH PULVERI 7 milling machine, with 250 ml grinding sets made by either tungsten carbide, steel or agate.
• RETSCH BB 100 MANGAN jaw crusher
• PAUL WEBER press
